Experience

Tutoring - 16 years in grades K-6th grades- reading, math, science, writing. I enjoy tutoring because I have been so successful. I have had a first grader reading below grade level to being at the top of her class in reading. It is so rewarding to see students who have shown little or no interest in reading to being excited and develop a love for reading. I like to make the process of reading fun for each student. I have taught all 4 of my children to read by age 3 and all of them had success in school at the high school and college levels. I had a pre-school in my home for children in my church when my daughter was that age. I taught all of the students how to read.

Hobbies

I LOVE children. I have 4 of my own, one of those being adopted from China. I home schooled my 4 children for a total of 22 years. I teach figure skating to adults at a local rink and have taught children in the Learn to Skate program for USFSA for 11 years. I enjoy tennis and have played competitively for the past 5 years on USTA teams. I have been a substitute teacher for several area private schools in grades K4-6th. I enjoy gardening and occasionally take area horticulture classes. I have a passion for antiquing, art work and home decorating projects. I think that Pinterest is the bomb! I adore travelling and especially love vacations at the coast, mainly Sunset Beach North Carolina. There is nothing better than a good book at the beach! Above all of my loves, my family is my treasure. I am so grateful for my husband, 4 children, golden retriever, Suri , my 2 daughter in laws and grandson, Xander.
