SUNY Albany - BA, History , St. Rose - BA, Adolescent Education 3.8 GPA I have been teaching social studies for the last ten years in Richmond City and currently at Goochland High School and in the Blue Ridge Virtual Governor School Gifted Program. I have prior online education experience as an instructor for the University of Phoenix (Axia College) as well.

Experience

For my entire teaching career I have tutored almost every single year and have had an extremely successful SOL pass rate. In Richmond City, I tutored in a test-and-chess program that taught students test taking skills and served as an after-school program for inner city youth. I also taught in "Twilight School" (an after-school accelerated tutoring program for students who had previously failed history classes and SOL's) during the school year and tutored for two consecutive summers at Huguenot High School. At Goochland High School, I have done after school tutoring for the last two years and have served as a homebound tutor for several students in Goochland County (Homebound provides students with at-home instruction due to health issues, extensive suspensions etc.) For the majority of my teaching career, over 90% of my students have passed the Virginia SOL's and last year I had a 100% SOL pass rate. I am passionate about history and instruction and have been involved in Teaching American History Academies, educational training and tours around the world, and gifted program training. I want to be a tutor because I love teaching and feel that I have a gift and calling to assist students academically.

I love to travel and have been on educational tours to several major historical sites throughout the world for the past five years (Mexico- Mexico City and Teotihuacan, China- The Great Wall and the Forbidden City, Italy- Rome, Florence, Pompeii, and Venice, Greece- Athens and the Greek Islands, Turkey- Ancient Ephesus, Switzerland, France- Paris, England- London, and Peru- Machu Picchu). I also like sports, movies, and going out to eat with friends and family.
