I am a junior at Virginia Commonwealth University, majoring in Spanish and working towards my Spanish/English translation certificate. I am minoring in Political Science and Arabic. In high school, I attended Henrico High School and obtained the International Baccalaureate diploma in 2013. I received a perfect score on my IB Higher Level Spanish exam, and placed in 2 regional essay competitions in high school.
Experience
Volunteer tutor for peers throughout high school and college, editing papers and helping with Spanish, ESL, and writing. I have taught, either as a volunteer or a teaching assistant, preschool, elementary school, and middle school. I want to be a tutor because I eventually want to be a teacher. Since everyone learns differently, I believe that many students can benefit from one-on-one attention where the teaching or tutoring style can be tailored to their specific needs and interests.

Hobbies
I love music, and especially when I teach language I try to work it in. I dance and have taught ballet, salsa, and musical theatre dance. I play violin and guitar, and love to sing. Writing stories is also a favorite pastime, I have a journal full of story blurbs that I like to add to every few days. My favorite activities are creative ones, and my teaching style is definitely conversational. I would always rather that a child reach the conclusion on their own, so I like to walk them through the process instead of pointing it out to them.
