Private tutor in Richmond, VA

Radford University, Music Business Major 2010-2012 Virginia Commonwealth University, B.A. in Jazz Performance - Upright Bass 2012-2014 (3.5 GPA) Projected graduation - 2016

I have taught private bass guitar/music theory lessons for roughly 3 years, but would like to focus on having a program and multiple students with whom I can hone their skills and put together a recital. I play a variety of genres and styles on bass guitar, upright bass, and some guitar. I am often called to sub for people on gigs, and enjoy playing with a lot of different musicians. I want to be a tutor to pass on what knowledge I have to those who are hungry to learn, and to expand my personal musical pallet and growth. I live and breath music and hope to stoke a fire in any young person that also enjoys music and wishes to pursue playing it, either as a hobby or career. Relevant classes: Classical and Jazz Music Theory & Ear Training (8 semesters) Various Jazz Combos, Orchestra, Men's Choir, One on One lessons, Jazz Improvisation, & Various Clinics I perform and travel with The Southern Belles (Richmond, VA) who regularly tour up and down the coast & across the country. We are about to release our 2nd album in July. I also gig regularly around town with multiple other side groups of varying genres and styles (Blues, Funk, Rock, Reggae, Jazz, Fusion, Folk, etc.)

I love listening to all kinds of music, writing, practicing & performing bass, booking/producing live shows, and going to see live music of all kinds. I enjoy cooking, movies, comedy, comics, and a plethora of other nerdy things. I read graphic novels and other series. I enjoy collecting vinyls & cassettes (old and new) and listening to music the old-fashioned way. I like helping people succeed in achieving their goals, and working as a team or partnership to get there. I believe I am easy to work with and able to go at the student's pace while incorporating important milestones of skill development.
