Experience
I have had an extensive career as a writer and journalist and editor. I worked for Newsweek magazine in New York for 20 years--one of the most influential news magazines in American history. I have worked overseas as a foreign correspondent. I have been editor-in-chief of a well-regarded regional lifestyle magazine, and I have written three non-fiction books--all in the field of sports. I have won writing awards, and have often spoken before school groups about writing and journalism, and I have informally helped students with essay research, organization and writing.

Hobbies
I am very patient and personable. I like young people. I have a middle-school daughter myself so I understand teens and the challenges of school work. I also have a strong understanding of how to approach and produce good book reports, essays and other writing for school--the research that must be done, the organization of material, the writing itself--and then, importantly, the rewriting of the essay or report. Nobody writes a brilliant first draft; brilliance, or excellence, is achieved through rewriting that which you've already written. It is more work, yes, but the only way to produce a good piece of work.
