I've known ever since I was young that I would become a teacher and coach and have been pursuing these dreams for the past seven years. I earned an Associate of Science degree in Social Sciences from Northern Virginia Community College. I also have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). Following graduation, I joined the Teacher Preparation Program and the Graduate Program for Secondary English Education at VCU. Through this program, I worked with students at area middle and high schools. Writing is one of my passions and I believe both reading and writing to be the foundations of a successful education. I had several internships during my college career that allowed me to develop reading and writing strategies that I hope to utilize in tutoring to make my students successful. Some of my other favorite tutoring topics include essay editing, grammar and mechanics, college essays, public speaking, and American Literature. At the same time I have been working my way through school, I have coached thousands of cheerleaders across the United States, working with children as young as five years old up to adults. Coaching has helped me to develop time management, organizational, and communication skills required to stay on task and help kids learn effectively.
