University of Virginia-Main Campus - BA, Cognitive Science and Psychology , Virginia Commonwealth University - MS, Criminal Justice
I believe that a teacher's main purpose is to prepare students accordingly for the skills they will need going forward, whether it is college or beyond. As a tutor whose main focus is on improving the critical thinking and writing of students, it is my job to give students the tools to succeed as the next set of working professionals. After all, there is nothing more important than being able to write clearly and concisely as well as to be able to express your thoughts in your writing.I graduated from the University of Virginia with a double major in Cognitive Science and Psychology. Following my undergraduate degree, I obtained a Master of Science in Criminal Justice at Virginia Commonwealth University. While at VCU, I taught classes as a teaching assistant, allowing me to work with pupils on an individual basis and giving me the first-hand experience of watching someone improve throughout the duration of a class. While English and writing are my passions, I am also able to tutor other topics, including geography, social studies, and test preparation. When I'm not working with eager learners, I like reading fiction (particularly science fiction or fantasy) as well as cooking, enjoying the theatre, and running, where I am in the training process for another marathon.
