Experience
I graduated with a master's degree in biology from Missouri State University, as well as a bachelor's in environmental science from the University of Maryland. Currently, I am working as wildlife biologist with a keen interest in urban wildlife management. I love coming up with ways to preserve the environment and reduce the amount of conflict between humans and animal populations. While pursuing my undergraduate and graduate degrees, I spent time tutoring and helping students overcome their academic challenges in a number of fields, including earth science, biology, and statistics. I also helped run a biometric lab. As a teacher, I believe that the best way to help students overcome challenges in the classroom is to find a way to teach to their strengths and assist them with overcoming their weaknesses. Education isn't about memorizing definitions and preparing for tests - it's about gaining a deeper understanding of the world. For this reason, I like to include a lot of activities and exercises so that my tutoring sessions are truly an interactive experience that students enjoy participating in. I believe that trust, respect, and openness are all important components that help make a good student-teacher relationship. Along with working in wildlife, I also like cycling and running.
