I am a tutor with extensive experience studying and teaching Language Arts and Math. I obtained a degree in Hospitality Management from Florida International University. I developed an interest in tutoring and education when I found out that my first child had a disability. I was interested in finding different methods for helping my child learn when I found out that it was possible for me to assist other parents and children in this capacity as well. This led to me pursuing and obtaining a Master of Education degree in Special Education from VCU. As a tutor, I am very comfortable teaching children with special needs. I am able to teach Language Arts, Math, Writing, Reading, American History, and Geography. My philosophy as a tutor is to emphasize the individuality of my students. Not all students are the same, so it shouldn't be a surprise that not all students learn the same. I am adept at taking the time to understand my students' backgrounds and developing a curriculum that works for each individual student. I am comfortable teaching a lot of different subjects, but I particularly enjoy teaching Language Arts and Math because it allows me to incorporate methods that work for each individual student. In my free time, I like to read, hike, and cook.
