Experience

I am a full time high school mathematics teacher. I use techniques to help build students understanding, confidence and love for mathematics. Many of these techniques are not wildly used, but my students have been very successful. I have attended the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Ga to learn more techniques to help students become engaged and invested in learning mathematics. I graduated from a magnet high school in Richmond Virginia. When I was in high school I finished my school's highest level of math when I was in my junior year (AP Calculus). In my senior year I took math classes at a local college where I did math with people twice my age. I also took 10 AP courses. I graduated from high school with a 4.25 gpa. I am a first generation college student so I can give a lot of advice on college. I had to figure it out on my own. I have spent 11 years in the classroom educating students in the field of mathematics. I specialize in high school mathematics, especially Geometry. I never give up on my students even when their teachers do because I believe every child is capable of learning and every child is unique. I have gotten students to pass SOL tests when they have only been to 9 classes the entire school year. I teach my students different techniques to master math. There are many methods to solve problems and I teach my students multiple ways in order for them to decide which way works best for them. I know math is a subject that scares many students but I aim for my students to not only understand what they are doing but to love what they are doing. There is nothing better, than to see a child grasp a topic that they struggled with...their eyes light up.

Hobbies

I am very eclectic in my hobbies and interests. My biggest hobby is watching movies. I love watching movies. There aren't too many movies that I have not seen. I also like to paint. I can spend hours painting while a good movie is on. I am a gamer at times, but I have been busy with school so I have not been spending as much time gaming as I used to. With all of my degrees and majors I tend to have a wealth of knowledge about almost every subject. I really like learning and I am open to learn anything. I have honestly learned quite a bit from my students. I can't want to hear what you are passionate about.
