Education

I graduated from the University of the West Indies with a Bachelors Degree. I majored in Political Science and did a minor in West Indian Literature and Sociolinguistics, I hold a Certificate in the Organization and Management of Small Businesses, from the Golda Meir Center for Woman in Haifa, Israel, I have beginner to intermediate fluency in the following languages - Spanish, Korean and Thai.

Experience

I have taught English Language and Literature for a combined 15 years at the High School and College level. As Head of the English Department at DeCarteret College, I taught the school leaving class. Each year the school had the highest percentage of passes in English Language and Literature among schools in the parish. Average of 93%. These were the External Examinations administered by the Caribbean Examinations Council. For a brief while, I lectured at the Mico College, a Teacher Training College, replacing a lecturer on sabbatical whose subject was West African Literature in English. I am currently doing further studies through Master Teacher, focusing on English as a Second Language techniques. I want to teach English to Immigrants, preferably adults, as I believe Children find it easier to learn a foreign language when immersed. Adults need a different approach, and I believe I have that approach. I also understand the frustrations that adults feel, having to go about daily life with no knowledge of either the surroundings or the language. I hope to be of some assistance in getting them familiar with the language faster.

Hobbies

I enjoy learning about different cultures and other languages. For the past year, I have been studying Spanish, Korean and Thai. Spanish seems to be a utilitarian language that is necessary in the USA today, but I am learning Korean and Thai for the MUSIC and the Dramas and Lakorns. Both Korea and Thailand have excellent musicians, and their music, particularly the music written for the dramas, is haunting and beautiful. My sports are anything that can be played with a phone or computer - Candy Crush, Farm Heroes, and now, Kwazy Cupcakes ( yes, this was inspired by Brooklyn 999)
