Private tutor in Richmond, VA
Education
Graduated from Old Dominion University in 2010 with a BA in Linguistics and minor in Asian Studies
Experience
I enjoy teaching because I enjoy learning, and I feel that the two go hand-in-hand. I am always excited to share something that I love with others, and I enjoy connecting with students and helping them to love learning as well! I have studied a variety of foreign languages, but the only two I feel comfortable tutoring in are Japanese and Chinese. I graduated college with about 30 credit hours of Japanese study over six years, and have since worked daily to maintain and improve my skill. I studied Mandarin Chinese for two years (12 credit hours) in college, and subsequently spent more than a year living and working in Taiwan, where Mandarin is the primary language in use. While in Taiwan, I worked as an ESL teacher for students ranging in age from six years old to early fifties, but the majority of my students were elementary and middle school students between seven and thirteen years old. I also did private tutoring for advanced students and those in need of extra help, as needed.

On the low-tech end, I enjoy fiber crafts like knitting and sewing, and I love walking my dogs!
