|Education:||Bachelor of Arts from UVA: Double Major in Philosophy & Sociology with a minor in French, GPA 3.5, current grad student at VCU|
|Experience:||Over the past year I have tutored English with many different clients. One of my students is an intelligent 5th grader who is preparing for placement tests to enter a prestigious magnet middle school. Another client is a gentleman who enrolled in a community college composition course to improve his writing skills. I also worked with a South American woman who wanted to improve her English speaking skills in order to qualify for better jobs.|
Previously, I spent a year in France teaching English to elementary school students. The year before that, I translated English religious services into French for a French-speaking church population. From 2007-2009, I wrote biweekly columns for UVA's university newspaper.
I enjoy tutoring because I am passionate about helping students who want to improve their skills. I love interacting with others who are as excited to learn as I am, and I also believe that tutoring serves as helpful experience for my future career as an occupational therapist.
|Hobbies:||I enjoy cooking, reading, and hiking. Beyond being an aspiring occupational therapist, I am also an aspiring novelist. I love to travel, especially internationally, and I am excited to find ways to help others experience the same great opportunities I have experienced.|
Andrenne always arrived on time and connected well with my granddaughter. My granddaughter is getting help with English - mostly grammar and editing her essays for English class. After the first session my granddaughter felt more confident in the material and she usually looks foward to each lesson. Andrenne also answered my granddaughter's email late that evening when she was stuck on a paragraph and she walked her through it. We are very pleased. -Carina
Andrenne was awesome! She really helped me get ready for SATs in addition to weekly help with my English homework. I was surprised by how well she helped me without coming off as lecturing. I have had several tutors in the past and she was by far the best. I highly recommend Andrenne for tutoring for her great attitude, helpful approach to learning, and finally her patience.
