Experience:As a Private Academic Instructor with over 11 years of tutoring experience I work closely with my students to find out what works best for them in subject areas such as Math, Science, and Foreign Language. I am experienced in working with children, teens, and adults from elementary school to college and beyond. Working with students in the subject areas that they struggle is vital to ensure future success. I try to instill a firm understanding of the fundamentals each student requires in order to succeed in their classes now AND in the FUTURE.

Over several years, I have obtained an immense working knowledge of students in academic environments and find it easy to interact with people of diverse backgrounds and ages. It is of great important to identify areas of weakness in the student's knowledge of material and study skills to help the student progress smoothly, now and in the future.

I started tutoring in high school in Northern Virginia and graduated with an AP Diploma. During high school my classes were heavily science and math-based.

Classes relevant to my current experience include:
AP Biology
AP Chemistry
AP Calculus BC
AP Spanish
AP Psychology
All honors math and science courses

During high school I tutored and was available to help in nearly every science and math class including classes I was currently enrolled in at the time. I tutor in all subjects except history but have great recommendations for other tutors if you are looking!

As a proficient speaker of the Spanish language I also assist with tutoring students who are taking beginning & intermediate level classes currently (Through high school level Spanish 3/4 as well as the first two semesters of college Spanish)

Thus far, through this site I have tutored over 30 different students through this site and have positive results!

**Proven history of delivering one-on-one service focused on learning and skills development

-I have ALMOST reached the maximum number of students that I can tutor and as a result, we may have to come up with a neutral meeting location such as a library, Panera, or Starbucks so that I may be able to fit you into my schedule. Please send me a message and I would be happy to discuss your situation!
Hobbies:I enjoy playing tennis, billiards, and am part of a Tuesday Night bowling league in addition to playing the piano for leisure, as well as dance (modern & jazz).

I'm friendly and love working with kids and adults and am also great at helping students sort through and organize their material into proper and effective study guides while making it somewhat enjoyable for to the student do.

What best ingrains material into a person's mind is the way it is presented and I do my best to have the material I teach to stick and help you spend less time studying!

Himashi helped my son with his Physics and Calculus classes and have miraculously managed to bring up his grade, TWO ENTIRE letter grades so far! I have also seen first-hand, my son's study skills and ability to organize thoughts to have greatly improved. We have tried multiple tutors in the past through countless tutoring services and could never find anyone that could really connect with and help my son. She is a great tutor and I strongly recommend her if you want to see improvement in your child's grades!

AMAZING TUTOR!!! I have struggled in math my entire life, and Himashi broke everything down for me into such a simple manner like I have never seen done before by any of my professors or teachers. She has a true gift and ability to help others understand! THANK YOU!!!

Hands down the best tutor I've ever had. I've gone through 3 in the past few months, never felt comfortable with any of them. Himashi is completely different from them and great to work with. I had so much trouble with Organic Chemistry and Physics and she broke them down to their simplest points. She made me actually like 2 subjects that in the past I absolutely hated. I would most definitely recommend her. Smart, respectful, and very reliable.

Helped me go from Ds and low Cs to solid A's and even getting 100% on one of my exams and several quizzes! I don't think I could have asked for any more from a tutor. Himashi helped me build my confidence in this subject that I thought I had no hope with. With the way she explained things to me, and seemed to genuinely care and make sure I was following a long as she was teaching was something I've never really had teachers in the past do for me in physics or ANY class! I don't want to imagine where I would be if it weren't for her right now! Going into the final, I have the possibility of getting an A which seemed out of the question to me when I first started taking the course. She helped me understand the big picture, which was what I was missing before, and after it all clicked everything just seemed to fall into place! I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Himashi as a tutor, you can't go wrong with her! And I'm sure i'll be back if I have issues with the classes that i'm taking next semester!

Himashi showed up on time and connected well with my daughter. My daughter is getting help with Physics and Pre Calc. After the first lesson my daughter is feeling more confident in the material and is looking forward to her next lesson. Himashi also answered my daughters email late that evening when she was stuck on a problem and she walked her through it. We are very pleased. S.Gerndt

The problem I had with this tutor is she charges $60.00 per hour however she doesn't tell you that she also charge per mile if you don't meet her where she lives. I know I told her I lived in woodbridge, va. She also changes her schedule too much for example she says friday, sat and sun are times she tutors then when you request sat or sun she comes back and say no. She should not be a tutor.

Himashi tutors my son twice a week and has helped him go from F's to B's and he's progressing even more, I've never seen Kyle be so excited and hopeful about a class before, especially one that has so much math to do with it!

I must say that i have had several tutors in the past but Himashi was the first person that was able to break down the most complex of concepts to be so simple. She was unbelievably helpful, was easy to contact and helped me grasp a firm understanding of basic concepts that I did not understand so that I could "build my new knowledge on a firm foundation" as she would say. I did not really see the pieces of the puzzle I was missing before that I had not thoroughly understood, but now that I do now, I was able to get an A in my Calculus and Chemistry classes.
