ExperienceTaught Professionally at Worcester Preparatory School in Md for 4 years - 11th grade Chemistry, 6th grade Math
Currently tutoring from home since starting a family.
This school year I have been tutoring students in Henrico and Hanover County public schools, Richmond City Governor's School, Trinity Episcopal school, and Home-bound students. SOL prep was a top priority for my students, all of whom passed in the high 400's. Over the past 4 years I have worked with students in Charlottesville and Maryland as well.
HobbiesChemistry and math are my passion just as much as eating great food and playing a good board game. It's really not that hard!

Megan is always on time and has done and is doing a fabulous job at preparing me for one of the hardest math tests I will ever encounter. She knows her topics and is very good at communicating the subject matter in a way that makes sense to me. I have had a few tutors for preparing for this exam and she has far exceeded the others.
Megan is proof that Chemistry can be taught so students can learn it without being totally stressed out and lost. My son's grade not only improved significantly but more importantly he gained confidence in himself and learned that he was completely capable of understanding Chemistry. An extremely important feat since he has recently decided he wants to become a nutritionist!
"Awesome! I learned more on my first session than I did in class the whole year". This was what I heard from my high school student after his first session with Megan. Megan tutored my son in Chemistry to help with his SOL testing. She was extremely organized, very knowledgeable on the subject, very pro-active in helping my son, always had review materials for him, and lots of other tools that he could use at home to ensure that he was learning the material. I STRONGLY recommend Megan, and while I hope we never need to get her assistance again:), I would have a great piece of mind knowing that Megan was available and able to help!!
Megan is an amazing chemistry tutor. Though we have only had one session so far, as an educator myself I can appreciate that she takes an assets based approach to teaching. She was full of praise for all the positives my kid exhibited in the first tutoring session. I could see from outside the room that she is passionate as a teacher and that she is engaging. My son has already gained from her instruction. We are in the process of scheduling more sessions with Megan. Allen L.
We have been extremely pleased with Megan. She is a gifted teacher who is organized and friendly. My son had about given up on understanding or even passing chemistry - but within a week of working with Megan, his grade and most importantly, his attitude had improved. We are very, very pleased that we found Megan and highly recommend her.
Megan helped my daughter tremendously with her 10th grade chemistry. Jackie's grades continued to improve through the winter into spring so much so that she placed out of her chemistry final exam. She also passed her chemistry SOL. Megan is professional and highly knowledgeable on the subject. I highly recommend her as a tutor in chemistry.
I could see the relief on my daughter's face after the first tutoring session with Megan. She explained the material in the way that made my daughter say "if I had only known Chemistry could be simplified and so much easier to learn!" Thank you Megan!
Megan helped BOTH of my daughters to pass chemistry class. She was able to take what they had been "taught", and present it to them in a way that they could actually understand! She also helped one to get through a rough place with her math class, again through clarification of the facts. Megan took the classroom instruction a step further!!
